Back in March of 2007, the play area was mostly dirt. The dogs didn't care, but the dust could become choking for us humans.
The spot where the dog is standing was dry dirt in '07 and a mud pit in '09. Erosion is our biggest problem (next to folks who don't pick up after their dogs).
This shot gives you an idea of how much undergrowth JAWITP volunteers have trimmed away.
It is hard to believe the dog park used to look llike this. (And visitors still thought it was a great park!)
